I'm currently listening to the rain and thunder from my hotel room. I'm glad it waited to pour until after I was done with lunch and walking around! Today we had our first lecture and walk. Our "classroom" is a gazebo in the middle of a playground so there's lots to watch while listening to the lesson. A little boy kept jumping in the puddles and getting scolded by his nanny. Later 2 kids wandered into our lesson and started running around. It was adorable.
We walked to the Seine River and admired the view. It was cool we got to see and walk under the bridge from Inception where Ellen Page and Leo walked and moved everything around. There was a motorcycle commercial or something along those lines being filmed while we were there too. Then on our way to the Champs de Mars and to look at the Eiffel Tower up close we walked along the island in the Seine and got to see all the cruise tours go by.
Today is also some kind of festive holiday where they have street fairs, but considering the weather I don't know how much of it will be taking place. We're supposed to have a picnic at the Champs de Mars tonight too, but I have a feeling it will get postponed...
Update:
It stopped raining so we were able to have our picnic on the Champs de Mars in front of the Eiffel Tower. We had fresh baguettes and wine and cheese among various meats and vegetables. It was a lot of fun! The we had a surprise boat tour on the Seine and got to see a lot of the sights at night and from another point of view. It got a little cold, but was totally worth it. A few of us went to the bars afterward because it was holiday in the city and we got to experience a little more of the authentic city life.
The end of my dinner
My friend Devin and I on the boat tour of the Seine
The back of the Notre Dame and another building... I'll find out later what the other building is exactly.

This is so exciting to read about! Keep having fun!
